Your First Visit

Your first appointment is primarily about understanding you. After completing your intake paperwork online, you'll sit down with your provider for a thorough consultation covering your health history, your current symptoms, and your goals for care. From there, we'll conduct a full chiropractic examination, assessing things like your range of motion, reflexes, and posture. If your condition warrants it, we'll take X-rays to get a precise look at what's happening in the spine. Most patients find this step genuinely informative.

Once we've reviewed your examination and imaging, your provider will walk you through the findings and outline a recommended path forward. You'll receive clear answers about what's going on, what treatment can realistically accomplish, how often you'll need to come in, and what to expect in terms of cost. If your condition is better addressed by a different type of provider, we'll tell you that directly. At Back To Basics, we want to get you feeling stronger and better immediately, so treatment typically begins that same day. Before you leave, your provider will give you personalized guidance for what to do at home to support your progress.

How Care Tends to Progress

Most patients come to us because something hurts, so relieving that pain is our first priority. Early on, visits tend to be more frequent while your body begins to respond to treatment. It's worth knowing that pain is typically the last symptom to appear when something is wrong, and the first to subside once care begins. Feeling better quickly is a meaningful sign of progress, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the underlying condition has fully resolved. Recognizing that distinction is part of how we approach care.

As symptoms improve, the focus shifts to correcting the root cause and building lasting stability. Visit frequency decreases during this phase, and your provider may incorporate therapeutic exercises to reinforce your progress. Mild flare-ups along the way are a normal part of the healing process and simply indicate that your body is still working through the correction. The timeline for this phase varies depending on the nature and duration of your condition.

For many patients, care extends beyond recovery into ongoing wellness. Routine chiropractic adjustments help maintain proper spinal alignment, support long-term joint health, and address minor issues before they become significant ones. The patients who commit to consistent care tend to stay more active, experience fewer setbacks, and sustain a better quality of movement over time. That outcome is what we're working toward from the very first visit.
