Pregnancy and Pediatric Chiropractic

Prenatal Chiropractic

We are proud to announce that our very own Dr. Charlotte Blanchet was awarded by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) with the certificate of proficiency in The Webster Technique

As a mother herself, Dr Blanchet has a passion for working with pregnant women.  She has committed herself in providing the best care for expecting mothers to help assist in their journey of pregnancy; which is not an easy task.

preg 1Webster Technique

“The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/ SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is facilitated” which allows for proper alignment of the pelvic girdle.  Proper alignment of the pelvic girdle is crucial not only for the birthing process but also for the proper positioning of the baby in utero.

Why Chiropractic care during pregnancy is important:

Due to the increase in hormones, especially progesterone and relaxin, laxity or loosening of ligaments and joints throughout the body  will occur through the pregnancy.  This laxity/loosening, of the ligaments causes the bones of your pelvis and low back to misalign.  This is the main cause of low back pain and pubic bone pain during pregnancy

Misalignment of your pelvis and sacrum can also affect the baby’s passageway making it difficult for him/her to descend properly.   This causes labor to prolong and distress on baby which often leads to an unwanted medical interventions.

Improper pelvic alignment can also impede the baby’s ability to turn in utero  causing him/her to become breach; again causing unwanted medical interventions.

Is chiropractic safe for Baby?

Not only is it safe to visit a chiropractor during your pregnancy, it's also highly beneficial for both pregnant woman and baby.

Dr Blanchet is trained and certified n adjusting pregnant women.  She uses a specific technique where she applies low force impulses on the pelvic bones.  There is not rotation and or torsion applied to the pelvis during a Webster adjustement

Dr Blanchet uses a table and pillows that adjusts and supports a growing belly so that no unneeded pressure is applied to the abdomen making it safe for the pregnant woman and baby.  Unlike a normal chiropractic adjustement, a prenatal chiropractic adjustement does not cause cavitation or the commonly known “popping” sound associated with a chiropractic adjustement.

Pediatric Chiropractic

Just as she likes to care for prenatal women, Dr Blanchet also has a passion for pediatric chiropractic.  She believes in caring for the whole family.

Pediatric Chiropractic is not only safe for your child but also important in improving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, sleep, and immune system of your child.  Chiropractic Care in children has been proven to help children with ear infections, acid reflux, and much more.

Just as with prenatal chiropractic care, Dr. Blanchet utilizes a gentle technique specific to children with little to no force.  She takes her time with each child to make sure that each child is taken care of accordingly and in a positive manner.  There is no pricking here, only tickles and giggles.

Please visit ICPA for more information and research on Pediatric Chiropractic.
